Thom’s Driveway Half Marathon

Driveway Half Marathon

We were delighted to receive a message from Thom Isom who told us he would be undertaking a Half Marathon from his driveway on Saturday 9th May 2020. Thom’s driveway measures at 45m, meaning he would have to run the loop of the driveway a total of 467 times! The run was documented on a live stream on YouTube and during this time he had his housemates cheering him on in the background.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, the rise in domestic abuse calls has risen in the UK. MDVS are a grassroots charity serving the most vulnerable families in Liverpool. Set up to safeguard women, children and young people through education, empowerment and prevention by tackling the root cause of the problem. Funding right now is more important than ever to help those who are suffering during this time.

Thom told us why he decided to raise money for MDVS: ‘Reading about more domestic violence in the news inspired me to look out for some charities. I wanted to raise funds for a local organisation and after reading about the work you do and how embedded you are in Liverpool it felt an obvious choice. I was particularly drawn in by your work with BME communities, I’m hoping the money raised helps you! It was a pleasure doing this’.

Currently Thom has raised £2636 for us which is absolutely incredible. Did you miss the Driveway Half Marathon? No problem, you can still donate to Thom’s GoFundMe page here.

To say thanks we did a little bit of research to find out that Terry’s Chocolate Orange was Thom’s favourite chocolate and had a bouquet of this chocolate delivered to him after his run.
