Ask your child how they might feel in the following situations. Allow them to tell you their answers, or to point to the relevant picture on the feelings chart if they prefer.
There is a feelings chart below that you can print off, or just bring up on your screen while you do the exercise. You could also ask them to express how they feel by choosing an emoji from your phone.
Make sure to let your child know that everybody feels differently and that there are no wrong answers. They need to know that they are allowed to feel however they feel, and to answer however they choose. This is important.
(I’ve found a list of scenarios and printable feelings chart online that I will replicate here. The list of scenarios says things like ‘how might you feel if you have an argument with your best friend, you get top marks on a test, etc’)
